Hi all, I work in education and Rent is about $1,258/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $219,700 on average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Riverside. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in construction. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The school system is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..
