Alright, We have two kids and It's a a major city city with about 1.5M people. Median household income is $62,917, which feels about average for the area. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Am I overthinking this? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Came here for weather and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 8 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Fairview area are decent. Kids love it here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from San Francisco about 1 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is decent.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
