OK so Born and raised here. With a population of 222K, San Bernardino is a mid-size city. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Chicago about 12 years ago. The main reasons were work and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The weather is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Sunset. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in retail. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
