I'm a nurse at the local hospital and The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Maple Ridge for 5 years. Moved from Nashville for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Road conditions need improvement. And cost of living can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from New York about 11 years ago. The main reasons were family and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 2 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
