Why I chose San Buenaventura (Ventura) over bigger cities
OK so I grew up here but left for a while. Household incomes average around $100,407 in San Buenaventura (Ventura). Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Denver about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is challenging.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. No regrets on my end..
