Not sure if this has been asked before, but Thoughts? The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Seattle about 4 years ago. The main reasons were family and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Happy to answer more specific questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is decent in most areas.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Downtown area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The community vibe scene is decent
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Rising rent and home prices
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Boston it's decent.
