Is San Diego a good place to retire?

My wife and I are planning to retire in the next few years. We're considering San Diego because of being near family. Weather is moderate — about 61F average.

Cost of living looks a bit high but manageable. How's the healthcare situation? Any retiree communities?

Totally agree with this. I've been here 9 years and my experience is very similar.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Eastside and Highland Park are perfectly safe.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is drive around neighborhoods at different times before committing. Makes a big difference.

Coming from Houston, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are cheaper.

Rent tip: look for places in winter. Prices drop and there's more availability.

Check out the Midtown area. Way more affordable and still close to everything.

If you can afford it, Eastside is the best place to live. Period.

I work in tech and finding a job wasn't hard. Took about 4 months.
