Best neighborhoods to rent in San Diego Country Estates?
Longtime lurker here, I grew up here but left for a while. The median home value here is around $715,000, which is pretty steep. Crime rate is something to consider -San Diego Country Estates sits at 140.6 per 100K. Median household income is $134,639, which feels pretty solid for the area. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What do you all think? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I've lived in Old Town for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- The pet-friendliness scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
- The safety scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
