Unpopular opinion about San Elizario

I work in food service and Thoughts? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much wild but now it's pretty good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 1 years ago. The main reasons were weather and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Rising rent and home prices

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is improving.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Chicago about 3 years ago. The main reasons were school and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is solid.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 3 years ago. The main reasons were school and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is decent.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. No regrets on my end..

I've lived in East for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- The traffic scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 2 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Raleigh about 15 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Lakewood. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in construction. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in South for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The school system scene is improving

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..
