Most overrated things about San Francisco
First post here. I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Poverty rate is 5.7%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider — San Francisco sits at 669.6 per 100K. Rent is about $2,419/month for a decent place. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.
Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Friendly people
- Close to nature
- Lots of new development
- Active local events
Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- High property taxes
- Far from major airports
Thanks for reading. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.
