Things that make San Francisco unique
Hey folks, I grew up here but left for a while. Poverty rate is 5.7%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $1,380,500 on average. Rent is about $2,419/month for a decent place. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development.
Pros:
- Good schools
- Close to nature
- Diverse community
- Plenty of shopping options
- Active local events
Cons:
- Limited dining options
- High property taxes
- Limited cultural events
- Homelessness issues downtown
Worth the trade-offs? The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.
