Thinking about relocating to San Isidro comunidad from Los Angeles
It's a a small town city with about 7,063 people. Homes are going for about $90,800 on average. The unemployment rate is 9.6%, which is concerning. Crime rate is something to consider -San Isidro comunidad sits at 2,771.8 per 100K. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Any advice would be great. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Background: I'm a teacher, 45, moved here 3 years ago from Seattle. I've lived in Pine Hills and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The traffic situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for families. improving vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Seattle, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $70K-$120K here.
**Final verdict:**

I've lived in Highland for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- The healthcare scene is improving
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely challenging and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (North) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
