I'm a remote worker and Rent is about $2,617/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 4.9%, which is pretty low. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Would love some local perspective. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 14 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is pretty good.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in South area are challenging. Kids love it here.

I've lived in South for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- The cultural scene scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- The cost of living scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Feel free to reach out with questions..
