Honest thoughts on life in San Juan Capistrano

Been meaning to ask this. You can expect to pay around $2,500 for rent here. With a population of 34,998, San Juan Capistrano is a smaller city. It's a a smaller city city with about 34,998 people. Homes are going for about $929,700 on average. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Nice parks and trails
- Growing food scene
- Diverse community
- Lots of new development

Cons:
- Sprawl everywhere
- Boring for young people
- Mosquitoes and humidity

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely decent and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Springfield) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
