Been living here since 2008. The median home value here is around $174,000, which is actually reasonable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely improving and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Midtown) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Limited shopping options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport with direct flights
- The dating scene scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Bought a house here in 2020 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Meadowbrook for 6 years. Moved from Houston for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
construction is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Dating scene is rough. Homeless population growing downtown. And nightlife can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 8/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The walkability is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..
