Longtime lurker here, I'm single, late 20s, and With a population of 321K, San Juan zona urbana is a mid-size city. Household incomes average around $27,500 in San Juan zona urbana. Median household income is $27,500, which feels on the lower side for the area. Poverty rate is 35.4%, which is higher than I expected. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- The public transit scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Happy to answer more specific questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is underrated in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Oak Park. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Southern.
