Been meaning to ask this. Been living here since 2020. It's a a smaller city city with about 29,453 people. Homes are going for about $833,800 on average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Worth the trade-offs? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

The food scene here is decent. Tons of great Indian places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a electrician, 53, moved here 13 years ago from New York. I've lived in Eastside and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good internet infrastructure
2. Close to major attractions
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Limited shopping options
3. The public transit situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for families. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$120K here.
**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'm a HR manager and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is improving and there's always something going on.

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Maple Ridge area are tough. Kids love it here.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The cultural scene is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much manageable but now it's pretty good.
