My family moved here when I was a kid. Homes are going for about $197,400 on average. The median home value here is around $197,400, which is actually reasonable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Is this normal for San Luis?

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I work in engineering here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is solid. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the North side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.

Came here for work and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor recreation is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Old Town. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Indian.
