Been meaning to ask this. I'm a remote worker and Median household income is $51,030, which feels on the lower side for the area. Household incomes average around $51,030 in San Marcos. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Is this normal for San Marcos?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Sunset. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in construction. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
