Pros and cons of San Marcos after 2 years

Hey folks, We're a young couple and Household incomes average around $51,030 in San Marcos. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've lived in Fairview for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- The community vibe scene is solid

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 8 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
