Pros and cons of San Mateo after 2 years

Anyone else feel this way? I relocated for work and With a population of 104K, San Mateo is a mid-size city. Poverty rate is 4.6%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $1,563,200 on average. You can expect to pay around $3,079 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Looking forward to hearing from you all. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in West. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in engineering. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Asian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
