Anyone else feel this way? I relocated for work and With a population of 104K, San Mateo is a mid-size city. Poverty rate is 4.6%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $1,563,200 on average. You can expect to pay around $3,079 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Looking forward to hearing from you all. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.
