First post here. Rent is about $3,079/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $1,563,200, which is pretty steep. The city has invested a lot in new development. Thanks! The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is excellent in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Raleigh about 8 years ago. The main reasons were school and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Hope this helps!.
