Best hidden gems in San Ramon

Hi all, Average temperature is around 57--F, so the weather is moderate. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Worth the trade-offs? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 14 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are wild, gas is solid.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in The Heights for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights
- The walkability scene is decent

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..
