Moving from Charlotte to Sanatoga next month

Hi all, Been living here since 2019. The median home value here is around $280,100, which seems about average. Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. It's a a small town city with about 9,048 people. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. What would you do? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from San Diego about 8 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Feel free to reach out with questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is challenging in most areas.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 37, moved here 12 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in Fairview and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Close to major attractions
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited shopping options
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The cultural scene situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for singles. solid vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
