OK so I grew up here but left for a while. Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. You can expect to pay around $1,546 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 1.2%, which is pretty low. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What would you do? Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Midtown) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The community vibe is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The public transit is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.
