Why I chose Sand Springs over bigger cities

Anyone else feel this way? You can expect to pay around $1,016 for rent here. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Am I overthinking this? Thanks!

I've lived in Midtown for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options
- The public transit scene is decent

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Fairview. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in real estate. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a chef, 24, moved here 6 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in Downtown and The Heights, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Diverse dining options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Winters are long and cold
3. The walkability situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for retirees. underrated vibes, walkable.
- The Heights: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Lakewood area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to LA it's improving.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 12 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is solid.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Happy to answer more specific questions..
