Best restaurants in Sandy Springs?

Random thought, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and The median home value here is around $583,900, which is pretty steep. It's a a mid-size city city with about 107K people. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Has anyone dealt with this? Looking forward to hearing from you all.

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great Mexican places. I genuinely enjoy living here.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 56, moved here 7 years ago from Seattle. I've lived in Meadowbrook and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The nightlife situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for couples. tough vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Seattle, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $100K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 3 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in East. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in tech. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from San Francisco about 3 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
