Working remotely from Sandy Springs

First post here. Born and raised here. Crime rate is something to consider -Sandy Springs sits at 129.1 per 100K. Poverty rate is 6.2%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,789/month for a decent place. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I'm a nurse and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is decent and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely better than expected and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Eastside) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 54, moved here 13 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Westside and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Can feel isolated
3. The cultural scene situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for remote workers. underrated vibes, walkable.
- West: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $60K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the Oak Park side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.
