I'm retired and Average temperature is around 73--F, so it's warm year-round. Household incomes average around $62,877 in Sanford. The unemployment rate is 3.0%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,496 for rent here. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What do you all think? Appreciate any input. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Fairview for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- The traffic scene is improving
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Miami about 14 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is underrated.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Happy to answer more specific questions..
