Things that make Sanford unique

Hey, My family moved here when I was a kid. The median home value here is around $257,200, which seems about average. Homes are going for about $257,200 on average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Has anyone dealt with this? TIA!

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Phoenix about 6 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Rising rent and home prices

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is solid.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely pretty good and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Chicago it's tough.
