Is Sanford walkable?

Curious what people think. I'm a teacher here and Household incomes average around $54,294 in Sanford. Poverty rate is 16.8%, which is higher than I expected. The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. It's a a smaller city city with about 30,833 people. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Am I wrong here? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Riverside. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in government. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Definitely worth checking out..
