Hey folks, Poverty rate is 10.4%, which is around average. Homes are going for about $346,000 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. Am I overthinking this? Thanks in advance! It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- The weather scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Riverside area are challenging. Kids love it here.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Tampa it's solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from LA about 12 years ago. The main reasons were work and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is tough.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Fairview for 14 years. Moved from Portland for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
construction is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is improving - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Road conditions need improvement. And food scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 9/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
