Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Baltimore about 1 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is challenging.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 10 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

I've been here 8 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Highland for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The pet-friendliness scene is solid

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely pretty good and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Affordable housing options
- The healthcare scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. No regrets on my end..
