The good and bad of living in Santa Ana

So, Just moved here 7 months ago and The median home value here is around $657,800, which is pretty steep. Crime rate is something to consider — Santa Ana sits at 435.5 per 100K. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. TIA! The city has invested a lot in new development.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 3 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely solid and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Midtown) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Limited shopping options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
