Alright, Just moved here 3 months ago and Median household income is $119,926, which feels pretty solid for the area. The suburbs are where most families end up. Any help is appreciated. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The housing market is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 11 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Definitely worth checking out..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Tampa about 11 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Happy to answer more specific questions..
