Life in Santa Cruz as a young professional

Homes are going for about $1,180,100 on average. Household incomes average around $111,427 in Santa Cruz. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What are your go-to spots? The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Cedar Grove. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Hope this helps!.

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the Sunset side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
