Pros and cons of Santa Cruz after 11 years
Been meaning to ask this. I'm retired and The unemployment rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 59--F, so the weather is moderate. Homes are going for about $1,180,100 on average. Poverty rate is 5.5%, which is pretty low. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.
