Random thought, The median home value here is around $411,500, which is pretty steep. Rent is about $1,380/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $70,110 in Santa Fe. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Should I be concerned? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I've lived in Downtown for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- The housing market scene is improving
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited high-paying job options

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Baltimore about 13 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
