Moving to Santa Fe -what should I know?

Curious what people think. Been living here since 2018. Poverty rate is 10.6%, which is around average. The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Does this match your experience? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The cultural scene is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

The food scene here is improving. Tons of great Korean places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 10 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
