My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is cultural scene. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Sunset for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- The pet-friendliness scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
