Couple moving to Santa Fe Springs from out of state

Hey folks, It's a a small town city with about 19,310 people. The median home value here is around $624,700, which is pretty steep. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cheers. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I've lived in West for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Affordable housing options
- The outdoor recreation scene is tough

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'm a sales manager and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The traffic is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in West. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in tech. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Definitely worth checking out..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Pittsburgh it's tough.

My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..
