Curious what people think. Military spouse here. Homes are going for about $1,810,200 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. Any advice would be great. TIA! It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Sunset area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 7 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in The Heights area are tough. Kids love it here.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is solid in most areas.

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Austin about 9 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is improving.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from New York about 1 years ago. The main reasons were school and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is improving.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is cultural scene. Other than that, No regrets on my end..
