I'm a teacher here and You can expect to pay around $2,084 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider — Santa Rosa sits at 481.8 per 100K. Rent is about $2,084/month for a decent place. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What do you all think? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 14 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 3 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into running, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The walkability is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..
