I relocated for work and You can expect to pay around $2,084 for rent here. Household incomes average around $97,410 in Santa Rosa. The median home value here is around $685,000, which is pretty steep. Average temperature is around 58°F, so the weather is moderate. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely solid and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Old Town) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Riverside for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- The school system scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Feel free to reach out with questions..
