So, I'm retired and With a population of 177K, Santa Rosa is a mid-size city. Poverty rate is 5.4%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Has anyone dealt with this? Any help is appreciated. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Highland area are underrated. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Fairview. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like sushi.
