First time home buyer in Santaquin

Median household income is $95,175, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's a a small town city with about 15,391 people. With a population of 15,391, Santaquin is a small town. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Good schools
- Diverse community

Cons:
- Hot summers
- High property taxes
- Limited cultural events
Would love some local perspective. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The walkability is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Austin about 11 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 3 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 32, moved here 6 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Sunset and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Growing food and restaurant scene
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Can feel isolated
3. The cost of living situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for families. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in East. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in legal. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 3 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
