Rent in Santaquin getting crazy

OK so Been living here since 2018. Rent is about $1,165/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 2.4%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $434,700, which is pretty steep. With a population of 15,391, Santaquin is a small town. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much wild but now it's solid.

I've lived in Sunset for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- The outdoor recreation scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Definitely worth checking out..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Highland for 2 years. Moved from LA for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is solid - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Highland schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Road conditions need improvement. Dating scene is rough. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 5/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

I'm a pharmacist and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 1 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
