I've been here for 9 years and Rent is about $2,206/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $567,200 on average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Am I overthinking this?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Minneapolis about 7 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is decent.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
