Things that make Satellite Beach unique

OK so The unemployment rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. With a population of 11,250, Satellite Beach is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Satellite Beach sits at 98.1 per 100K. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Would love some local perspective. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Lakewood. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in construction. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The public transit is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
