As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much established but now it's pretty good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Seattle about 5 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is improving.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The traffic is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
